CCR #1

The question I will be researching today is "How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?"

For our movie, we will follow some of the typical action movie characteristics, but we will also add some comedy movie characteristics to make our movie stand out. The action movie conventions that we will follow are the fast-paced shots, the emphasis on physical action, and establishing heroes and a villain. In this case, the heroes will be Thomas and Lukias, and the villain will be the pharmaceutical company.

Our movie will also highlight the social injustices proposed to us by the medical industry in the US, and the problems that come from single parent households. Healthcare has always been a problem in the USA, due to its high prices, while in Europe and many countries in South America offer free public healthcare. Our film will focus on the greediness of the American government, keeping the cure for cancer from the public in a realistic fiction manner. Thomas' situation will show the difficulties of growing up with no father, and also the struggles of being in the foster care system. Since Thomas doesn't really know what to do with his life, he just resorts to stealing which doesn't show that he has a promising future in the work force.

Post-production Post #2

I'm still debating on what fonts to use for the opening credit sequence. I was thinking that for the scene where Lukias is on screen, I could use some sort of a more serious font, while when its Thomas on scree, I could use a less serious font. I was maybe thinking that we could use this font for Lukias' credits, and this font for Thomas. I am not totally sure yet, but I will definitely talk to Elias about how we should do this.

I already discussed the font for the title in a previous blog, but I found a font similar to what I wanted:

I think this will look very cool and will add a lot to the movie.

Finally Filmed

Today was the day. We finally filmed. Now that Elias is injured, he doesn't have practice anymore, meaning that we can film whenever, because my practices are at night and the filming is during the day/sunset. I picked him up at his house, went to get gas, and then we went to the filming location.

We got pretty lucky because there was no one there, but then it started raining which was not very lucky. We finished most of the shots, but still need to finish a few shots together, which my brother will help us film.

Here's a great video that, unfortunately, I don't think we'll be able to use because the bush is in the way:

Production Post #1

So basically, Elias and I were really busy this whole week and we were only able to film our own individual shots. Next week we will meet up on Wednesday to shoot the rest of our film, and then we will start editing asap.

For now, we filmed as many individual shots as we could, and we will discuss when we meet together again if we should re-shoot them or if they are good as is. Also, the fake tattoo arrived, and I think it looks sick.

I'm still debating on where I should put it but I think I'll just put it on my forearm. I am getting kind of nervous because the deadline is soon, but I have faith that we will do everything well. We plan on filming everything on Wednesday to maximize the time we have to edit, because that is both Elias and my weak point.
